Eastern Indigo Snake - This is the longest North American snake. Its scales are smooth and shiny, and it has a incandescent black coloration. Some Eastern Indigo Snakes have a bright red coloring over the face and throat, although this is widely varied - some show no red coloration at all. This snake is primarily located in southeastern Georgia and most of Florida. The Eastern Indigo has been found in habitats ranging from mangrove swamps and wet prairies to xeric pinelands and scrub.
